Although we cannot talk about an overly stimulating framework for the development and implementation of social innovations (lack of coordination between different mechanisms or limited sources of funding). Work on social innovations has begun in Istria. Prerequisites for the development of social innovation are: awareness of public authorities and stakeholders of the opportunities that social innovation can provide Istria, such as new innovative solutions, innovation with a social mission aimed at the common good, creating social impact that drives change, ideas and projects implemented, developed and implemented public, private and non-profit sector organizations and individuals.
The Foundation within the Project + Resilient is working on the development of the Regional Center for the Development of Social Innovation "ReCeD'Istria" which should offer new social values through various elements; new business opportunities, new skills, networking, creative business opportunities, experiences, innovative solutions for joint creation with communities and participation in the creation of development and implementation strategies of municipalities, cities, counties and / or agencies.
Consequently, on 30.05.2020. in the Community of Technical Culture - ZTK Pula, a focus group was held which brought together a working team of experts from various fields, who worked out the possibility of starting and functioning of the Regional Center for Social Innovation Istria in order to see the real possibilities of starting such a center management, financing, sustainability and purpose. The focus group was led by the expert team of APSOLON - a leading practitioner of the Design Thinking method in Southeast Europe.
